Today I noticed two white-haired men helping each other up a curb. They both wore baseball caps indicating they were veterans, and cardigan sweaters.
Once up on the curb, the men continued toward the veterans museum and I saw they were holding each others’ hands very lightly. Both wore gold wedding bands. They became entangled with a group of laughing teenagers. I couldn’t tell if the teens had noticed the men holding hands or were laughing for some other reason, but the men continued walking forward, index fingers woven together, toward their destination.
