General Description:

The Social Media Director will regularly contribute to the development of new communication concepts, technologies, and standards, working directly with executives, artists, students, volunteers and other patrons to develop and implement strategic communication plans. Work is performed with minimal direction and within the context of a strong team philosophy. This role is expected to grow both of the organizations’ ability to deliver commercially oriented intelligence, the nature of online sentiment and the impact of digital campaigns and programs to their executives. This role requires experience with hands-on management of analytics projects and interfacing directly with patrons to present capabilities and results. Additional responsibilities include helping to embed basic digital analytics capabilities across the organization in addition to the evaluation and mentorship of talent/staff to support this initiative.

 

Areas of specialty must include the following:

• Internal Communications: Contributing to the development of online communications targeted to electronic/digital audiences and related to issues that shape the company's image and reputation. Also, is current on the fast-changing world of the new media, also known as social

media.

 

Areas of specialty may include the following:

• Creative Services: The creation of a variety of communications disciplines including editorial services, writing copy, graphic design and video production.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide analysis of social landscape and audience buzz volume, frequency, velocity, demographics, and related dimensions.

• Program analysis may be executed with off the shelf ‘free’ applications (e.g. Google analytics), internally developed analytical approaches or 3rd party providers depending on client need and preferences.

• Help to Identify novel and cutting edge, relevant applications for social media program measurement and bring those applications to the forefront for consideration of their fit within the organizations’ measurement repertoire.

 

Responsibilities include writing and editing strategic communications and developing and maintaining Emerging Media duty, counsel and strategic planning. Specifically, duties are to plan, develop and implement corporate Emerging Media strategies and initiatives, including (but not limited to):

• Company Twitter account

• Corporate Facebook page

• Company YouTube channel

• External facing blogs

• Internal use of blogs or social networking

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Communications or related field is desired, HOWEVER due to the unique nature of social media an equivalent amount of hands-on, practical experience with social media can be substituted.

• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, software application skills including word processing and desktop publishing, and solid project management skills

• Must be fully operational with both web and social analytics. This individual will serve as the project manager, and where applicable, the point of contact with outside vendors for analytics projects.

• Be capable of developing ROI analyses for company administrators..

• Fully operational in ability to identify/clarify research objectives and lead the development of research designs that address these objectives

• Must be fluent with ranking analysis, including SEO ranking, advanced Boolean search construction, keyword popularity, online influencer identification, tying social media effects to onsite behavior.

Position will require use of advanced social media analysis tools.

• Operational in target audience profiling, market segmentation and post campaign.

• Demonstrated ability to create analyses that move beyond an explanation of ‘what happened’ to ‘why it happened’ and ‘what should be done’

• Strong project management skills
